News UK is a multinational news company from newspapers such as The Times to radio stations such as Virgin Radio. As a team and due to the company’s size, we provided 1st line IT support mostly to UK employees but also North America, around European, India and Australia’s OOHs. Support ranged from AWS & Citrix, AppStream, SAP Systems, Okta SSO, Active Directory, Chrome OS, Windows OS and MacOS. We also provided support for governing and provisioning AD accounts through group policies, resolving incidents or passing to a specialised when needed.

Following from my previous IT experience, I was accepted as a 2nd line engineer for a 3 month position. I supported a wide variety of company sizes from small factories to a large international medical company dealing with Dialysis machines. During my time here, I gained experience with Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Group Policies, Routers and Switches, Windows Servers from 2008 up-to 2016. My proudest accomplishment was attempting to find a solution to resolve an XP machine failure. My technical director received a personal email from the clients director thanking me for ‘going out and beyond’ to resolve their critical machine failing.

While working at CDW, I was part of a busy first line support team for Travelodge hotels. We would deal with systems such as Opera, Active Directory, hotel network diagnostics, working with subnet masks and configuring corporate devices remotely using software such as Citrix, Dameware and superscan. Every call and email that came in had to be logged and, if unable to resolve, passed to the correct department within Travelodge. We had SLAs to meet and dealt with at least 100 phone calls and 200 emails a day as a team. I believe working for CDW has helped me gain the knowledge and experience to support my CCNA studies.
