I am a dedicated, results-driven professional with a balance of both educational and professional experience. In my current position, I handle a variety of responsibilities at the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Rhode Island, a small non-profit that advocates on behalf of the eight non-profit institutions of higher education in Rhode Island. On any given day, my work could include drafting talking points for upcoming testimony on the state budget, fielding a question from a member on federal regulations, conducting research on state student aid, and coordinating a student letter-writing campaign. On top of this, I also handle a substantial portion of the Association's day-to-day operations. In all of these roles, I pride myself on my ability as an effective communicator.I have a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, where I concentrated in Global Political Economy and International Consulting. It was here that I developed a passion for international affairs. I am always seeking to understand not only how global trends impact people's daily lives, but also how seemingly insignificant acts can have global implications. I served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Kinmen a small, Taiwan-controlled island just a few miles off the coast of mainland China. I developed the cross-cultural skills and Chinese language proficiency necessary to effectively communicate and build relationships with friends and colleagues during my time there. To this day, I continue my daily use of Chinese through independent study and daily conversations with my wife.I received my Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross, where I majored in Political Science and Chinese. I credit my time at Holy Cross as serving as the bedrock for my skills and experiences today. My immersive study abroad experience in Beijing was my first foray into living abroad and stepping outside of my comfort zone. I was honored to be a recipient of the Gilman Scholarship and maintained a blog about my time there.
