About Luke Ritchie

Luke is Chief of Strategic Partnerships for Reactional Music, leading their conversations with external partners and customers as we roll out Reactional. Luke's been with Reactional since 2022, and has a background in music and tech. A former musician, prior to Reactional he worked for the San Francisco Symphony for 2 years, and the Philharmonia Orchestra for eight years before that as Head of Innovation & Partnerships and Digital Director, bringing Reactional's technology into a partnership with Royal Shakespeare Company, Epic Games, Magic Leap and Intel, among others for a project, Dream, between 2019-2021.At the Philharmonia, the Digital team created a range of cutting-edge projects with Conductor and Composer Esa-Pekka Salonen, from iPad apps to interactive web documentaries, from its large-scale installations to touring musical trucks, from its extensive video collection through to its growing portfolio of immersive work. The Orchestra began working in VR in early 2015 and created four films, three of which were directed by Ritchie. In 2019, the Philharmonia joined the new Audience of the Future Live Performance consortium with RSC, Marshmallow Laser Feast, Manchester International, Punchdrunk, Intel, Magic Leap, Epic Games and many more to develop its R&D in VR, AR and MR, with a focus on music – from spatial audio to composition for interactive platforms.

The Reactional Engine can understand music and play it back live in realtime. The Engine is able to play back a pre-composed soundtrack to a game, but also to improvise and adapt to changing parameters.The range of changeable parameters can be extremely broad, from a player’s actions to the changing state of a game, or the introduction of new music to a pre-existing soundtrack.This has enormous implications for music, from composition through to creating truly powerful interactive music experiences for audiences in games, interactive experiences - whether online or location-based as well as AR, VR and MR.https://reactionalmusic.com/developer/
