This role encompasses a wide variety of technology-related tasks for the Iowa City Community School District administration's technology department. I work with a small team to update classroom technology, provision student/teacher/on-prem devices, assist with technical support, and perform basic network setup jobs. Over the past few years I've received recognition for my skills as a team member, working with a high degree of adaptability. I've held this position in the summers of 2021, 2022, and 2024.

In this role, I provided tutoring support to students across diverse majors, including Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering. I also developed methods to accurately and attentively grade student assignments and labs from first and second-year CS courses.

In this role, I worked with another undergraduate student spearheading a new research project focused on creating a machine learning classifier for "data void" terms. My partner and I effectively communicated with our mentor during twice-weekly project meetings, and collaborated with PhD students on methodology. I created and populated a MariaDB relational database that contained internet posts from a variety of internet communities on Reddit and 4chan. We used Python's rich collection of data science tools (Pandas, Matplotlib, Numpy, etc.) to filter and model the TF-IDF score of significant n-grams. We also calculated features about the source of the data, such as Jaccard and Cosine similarity for subreddits based on their location in a predetermined user vectors dataset and our database. Finally, we trained and tested our data using 5-means sampling and grid search on both a Random Forest and XGBoost classifier, with features derived using both the FeatureTools and TSFresh time series feature extraction algorithms, in addition to other manually-extracted features. We were able to train a model to identify data void terms with a ~70% accuracy in the historical data time range of 2018-2022.
