My main skill is to understand and express complex ideas in simple and unambiguous language, so they can be understood by as broad an audience as possible. The ideas may be technically complex (such as the science behind a new way of making microchips), or organisationally complex (such as the rationale for building a technology transfer office next to a university). In both cases I seek to clarify facts and simplify ideas, reordering them into a logical flow that leads the reader to a clear understanding of the topic. I've done this for subjects as diverse as the 'public key infrastructure' that protects Web shoppers, and the motivations for globalising research and development.I also have extensive experience of working with production editors and illustrators to produce finalised print and web publications. I spent almost eleven years working to weekly newspaper deadlines, and edited a fortnightly section for Engineering and Technology, the Institution of Engineering and Technology's flagship magazine.Specialties: Technical writing, from children's books to academic conference reports.Event photography.Basic videography.Technology research and analysis, for commercial clients.Production management - print and web, weekly and monthly.Team management - responsible for a team of 20, handling hiring, motivation, training, development planning and execution.Budget management - responsible for a six-figure (GBP) budget, which we always hit or underspent.
