This was a 12 week placement where I gained experience in the defence industry. This involved referring to relevant standards to ensure compliance of the racks and all linkages supporting the computer system with industry standards. Any areas of concern were identified and strategically addressed. The entire analysis was documented in the analysis and inspection report which was delivered with the project.In the final six weeks, I worked on a project which Ultra were awarded during my time there. This project had a very short time frame with a non-negotiable deadline so it was important to manage my time well. It involved installing an omni-directional antenna onto a vessel in the Royal Australian Navy fleet. I was given the task of designing the mount for the antenna, along with the electronics enclosure for all of the RF components. I modeled the entire system and produced manufacturing drawings for fabrication of all parts and assemblies. The project met the deadline and was successfully installed on board the vessel. Show less
