Promoted to lead the development department. Oversaw and was major contributor in migrating application hosted in local data center to AWS cloud in 2017. Succesfully migrated application with hundreds of thousands of users and a 6TB primary database. Used AWS features such was VPC, Security Groups, Auto Scaling Groups, EC2, SQS, ElastiCache, and more.Continued to perform multiple data engineer tasks including ETL of large data sets and ad-hoc querying for reporting purposes. Also continued to execute tasks such as query/index optimization and directing load testing to ensure application scalability.Assessment Technology was acquired by Imagine Learning in early 2019. Continued to manage development and oversaw two Scrum teams working within an Agile framework, developing web-based applications and APIs that reside entirely in the cloud (AWS).Important member of team that integrated Galileo assessment with Imagine Learning and Literacy. An entirely cloud-based integration. ATI develops web-based software with a mission of "creating technology to promote learning." ATI serves both the Pre-K and K-12 education markets with its flagship product Galileo.Galileo K-12 has a user community of about a million students and teachers. The Galileo databases store terabytes of data. This includes student assessments aligned to state and national standards, with results aggregated and presented using research-based models. These results inform teachers and other stakeholders about what standards to teach next, and ATI offers various instructional activities aligned to state standards, helping students to improve assessment scores and meet or exceed standards.Some of the major projects and tasks I've worked on include:- Was the lead developer in the design, development, and maintenance of an application that scans bubble sheets and saves results using web services to allow access in real-time using the Galileo K-12 web site.- Led the development and maintenance of software that imports data from school districts into the Galileo K-12 database. It allows multiple districts' data to be imported simultaneously while throttling the load during busy times. Developed internal and external web pages for monitoring the entire process. Utilized technologies including message queuing, Windows services, multi-threading, and web services for updating the monitoring web page in real-time.- Oversaw and profiled the performance of data queries and tuned/optimized the queries to maintain a responsive database application, while collaborating with System/DB Administrators as needed.- Gained experience interviewing, hiring, supervising, and mentoring other developers.
