Web Programmer (Contractor)

Rochester, Ny, Us

As the sole contract developer for 2 small University departments working with over 400 students (both in learning and teaching roles) and professors, I led web projects through end-to-end design, including requirements gathering, cost and time estimates, development, user-testing and documentation.Specific Projects: 1. Before a company-wide content-management system was deployed, I developed a custom department CMS utility that allowed multiple advisors to manage and deploy detail onto their website. 2. An email add-on utility to manage to statutory requirements of student accommodations, coordinating upwards to 50 extended resource requests each week between students, professors and staff. 3. As the first University to deploy and utilize a Study Group & Workshop Program, detailed data regarding demand, usage, attendance and grading had to be captured and maintained each semester. I designed a utility that managed each layer and allowed researchers to export data for regression analysis. 4. Students entitled to received hand-written notes by fellow paid students for coursework used a custom-designed automated note-taking utility to request notes. These requests would automatically solicit, match and assign students with accommodated students each semester. A total of over 75 requests were managed each semester. 5. Limitations within existing file-sharing mechanisms for confidential and private research data facilitated the need to maintain a permissions-based repository that provided timely access to data over the Internet. 6. Supported and developed a custom web software that allowed the management of campus activities for over 4,000 students, including membership, websites, events and email distribution. My role evolved from being the sole developer during the first years, to being in a supporting role for existing projects and processes to finally being the primary consultant as the development role became delegated to an internal IT staff group.
