Designed and conducted research on movement and trophic ecology of seabirds (Pterodroma petrels) that breed on offshore subtropical islands in Australia. My research answers questions about the conservation and ecology of pelagic seabirds and island ecosystems.

Lead and participated in a wide variety of wildlife studies including terrestrial breeding birds, seabirds, various Species at Risk, wildlife habitat assessments, amphibians and mammals. Worked in western, prairie, coastal and northern ecosystems. Prepared wildlife studies, lead and participated in field programs, prepared technical data reports, conducted data analysis, project coordination and management. Terrestrial songbird point counts across British Columbia and pelagic seabird surveys throughout coastal British Columbia.

Used acoustic monitoring technology to document the recovery of nocturnal burrow nesting seabirds in Gwaii Haanas National Park and Haida Heritage Site of Coastal British Columbia. Conducted a study on the behavior of Ashy Storm-Petrels in relation to restoration activities in the California Channel Islands. Used infrared cameras to observe nocturnal bird behavior on Santa Cruz Island.

Examined the role of winter cover crops in waterfowl habitat selection and soil conservation: ‘Managing cereal grasses as waterfowl lure crops: investigating planting dates and waterfowl feeding ecology’. Monitored raptor habitat use in grassland set-aside habitats in Delta, BC, particularly Short-eared Owl.
