Lead Developer

Melbourne, Australia

LEDA aimed to take a unique and fun approach to delivering leadership training and fostering positive behaviour change. With an growing cache of content developed in-house like interactive story-telling games and informative animated videos, I was hired to develop a platform to authenticate users, guide them on journeys through contents areas and test their abilities in-app.As the lead (and sole) developer, I built the LEDA platform from scratch using React on the frontend and NodeJS on the backend. The stack was hosted on the cloud platform Azure with both a production and staging environment. With no other developers in the team, I navigated the complexities of implementing the tech side of a digital product alone. The abilty to self-research and find answers to my own problems was a crucial, as well as being able to effectively and accurately communicate my approaches and challenges to the broader team. Brainstorming for the future with our product owner, negotiating UI behaviour with our designer and providing estimations and suggestions to our CEOs were daily occurences. While this role often threw unfamiliar and unpredictable curveballs my way, I also felt a great amount of satisfaction when I took a step back to look at the product we were producing. There was something special about being able to continuously work on a platform that I understood every part of.

Full Stack Developer

Melbourne, Australia

A fresh young contender in the beauty and wellness industry, Honee hired me as a Full Stack Developer and launched into an intense period of rapid product development. Having established a range of connections in the industry, we knew what our clients wanted and were ready to begin making our vision a reality. Our online venue management product, aptly named 'Honeecomb', aimed to turn the traditional service appointment between customer and stylist/practitioner into an informative and interactive ongoing experience. As the only Full Stack Developer in the team, I worked alongside designers in early project stages, was able to identify possible technical limitations and offer alternative designs to acheieve the same goal. I was often in charge of completing tasks that required full technical knowledge of the project, but could also focus on providing specific support to the Front End or Back End if resources were stretched thin. Now very confident with my proficiency in C# and JavaScript, I strove to produce code that was maintainable and scalable, something that is invaluable for any startup looking to expand.

Software Engineer

Level 2, 74 Doncaster Road, Balwyn North

After graduating from Monash, I was hired by Compass Education (formerly JDLF International) as a Software Engineer, and began work on the company's primary product, Compass School Manager, a comprehensive school-management application used by over 600 schools in Australia. Initially hired as one of 5 developers, the development team grew to a size of almost 20, which presented me with many opportunities to work alongside and provide leadership to new members of the team. I predominantly worked in an agile environment, though as the growth in the company continued our development practices were always evolving and being refined. The fast-paced approach utilised by the company suited my work strategies, and encouraged me to analyse, create and learn quickly. My ability to design intuitive interfaces and write clean and powerful client-side code allowed me to become one of the most reliable front-end developers within the company. My team members often approached me with requests for UI advice and questions about JavaScript, JQuery and front-end frameworks.During my time at Compass Education I significantly contributed to many new software modules, and provided consistent upgrades and enhancements to a system used by thousands of staff, students and parents every day.

It Technician

47-49 Phillipson St, Wangaratta Vic 3676

Prior to beginning my undergraduate degree, I spent a year working at Wangaratta West Primary School. I worked as the sole IT Technician for the large majority of time, offering technical support, advice and education to staff and students.I was nominated to attended a number of training sessions for the government's School Management System, the Ultranet, which gave me a first-hand look at how a large-scale software solution is received by it's end users. I oversaw the development and design of a new school website, and ran a short program on stop-motion animation for students in the final term. While in this position I also completed Certificate III in Information Technology through an AFL SportsReady Traineeship program, and was awarded the HOSTPLUS rising star award.
