I was actively involved in providing strong and positive services to Representative Ed Wildberger's constituents, which included letter writing, reception, providing Capitol tours, answering the phone, and completing other tasks as assigned.I researched various topics, and assisted with the development of miscellaneous legislation, including House Bill 936 (2009), a bill designed to strengthen Missouri’s victim protection laws and laws against sexual assault.I helped author other miscellaneous pieces of legislation, including the Missouri Energy Independence and Environmental Protection Act.I attended various state Senate and state House committee hearings, taking notes as necessary. One such series of hearings was on a bill to mandate health coverage for children with autism.I participated in a mock legislative session.The completion of this internship provided credit toward my B.S. in Government.I surveyed the members of the House, gauging opinion on energy policies, and collected data for use in a research project associated with the internship.

I was a paraprofessional in student affairs.I was responsible for the office’s marketing program, which included the maintaining accurate information on the office webpage and more. I was responsible for designing, editing, and developing three office publications, including a Guide to Student Involvement, a brochure and an advertising poster.I provided basic customer service, answering phones, returning messages, responding to e-mails, and welcoming visitors. I was also responsible for certain administrative tasks, such as policy development. I was largely responsible for coordinating the development of the University’s first Student Organization Handbook. I was responsible for developing policy, and identifying accurate information for inclusion in the manual.I was responsible for programming a major campus event, the annual Family Day, which involved coordinating a number of campus departments, student organizations, and university administrators. I was also responsible for scheduling activities, marketing the event, and ensuring successful operations on the day of the event. I also assisted with the coordination of Homecoming activities.I was responsible for attending programs and worked with student organizations to foster team building, develop leadership and networking skills, and so on.I was responsible for tracking information regarding, and serve as a resource for student organizations. In this capacity, I was responsible for maintain a database on all active and inactive student organizations. I maintained an archive, with files on each active and inactive student organization. I assisted students seeking to develop new student organizations. I developed policies and programs, chaired mandatory educational meetings on institutional regulations, and temporarily served as an interim Greek Life and Campus Events Program Assistant, providing services to the Greek community.
