About Luke Hohmann

I am a four time author, three time founder, SAFe® Fellow, keynote speaker and internationally recognized expert in Agile Software Development. Coming from Silicon Valley, where I bootstrapped and sold a B2B SaaS company, I know how to help business leaders build sustainably profitable businesses, because it is only through sustainable profits that a business can thrive. As Chief Innovation Officer of Applied Frameworks I work with executives from companies of all sizes to fulfill our mission of helping companies design sustainably profitable businesses. My most recent book, Software Profit Streams™: A Guide to Designing a Sustainably Profitable Business, is co-authored with Jason Tanner and shares key insights from our experience to help transform businesses through profitable, sustainable software solutions.Alas, I'm not perfect. I founded FirstRoot to promote financial literacy and positive civic engagement through Participatory Budgeting in schools. While we raised a healthy seed found from passionate supporters and built an extraordinary app and curriculum, we were unable to survive the changes that Covid caused in EdTech funding, and FirstRoot was shut down.I co-founded Every Voice Engaged (EVE), a 501c3 nonprofit that helps citizens, governments and nonprofit organizations collaboratively solve problems that are unsolvable without civic engagement. EVE's flagship offering is Common Ground for Action, the first scalable platform for Deliberative Decision-Making. I founded and bootstrapped Conteneo, Inc. until it was acquired by Scaled Agile, Inc. With our extraordinary development team, we created the Weave, Strategy Engine and Knowsy® decision agility platforms. In partnership with The Kettering Foundation (www.kettering.org), Conteneo created Common Ground for Action, the first scalable platform for deliberative decision-making, now managed by EVE.

EVEF was been a leader in the Participatory Budgeting movement, helping citizens prioritize hundreds of millions of dollars through Budget Games. I created the partnership with The Kettering Foundation to create 'Common Ground for Action', the world’s first scalable platform for deliberative decision-making.I remain very proud of our decade+ of service. While EVE was dissolved because of a lack of funding, I continue to do what I can to promote civic engagement.
