De La Rue provides software products and other technologies used in authentication and supply chain protection. These included government platforms for tracking and tracing excisable products and consumer facing web and mobile apps.My job was to lead, develop, mentor, and support ~18 developers and additional agency staff.

Technical architect, developer, dev ops, and anything else required for the Urban Observatory: a research facility to collect, harness, and distribute data from individual plots, buildings, the city, and wider region, to increase understanding of the environment around us and allow well-informed evidence-based decision making. A multi-million pound investment in smart cities, IoT, and big data.The sensor network collected more than 4 billion records and processed more than 300 values per second. A cross-functional team of ~10 maintained the observatory.

Full-stack development of web applications. Worked on projects for clients including Home Group, IKEA, British Airways, and the Ambassador Theatre Group.

Further developing the HiPIMS suite of software tools for hydrodynamic simulations of flood events, with a focus on real-time forecasting of likely flood impacts from intense rainfall. This work contributed to the NERC FFIR research programmes, in collaboration with researchers and scientists at the Met Office, Environment Agency, SEPA, Exeter University, and Reading University.

Developing an integrated hydraulic and hydrological modelling framework with functionality for GPU parallel processing, 3D real-time visualisations, and defences.

Developing the Integrated Twitter Urban Real-time Flood (iTURF) modelling system to harvest data from social media during flash flood events. This was combined with simulations to infer potential unreported flooding elsewhere.

Undertook freelance work in programming, web development and research for different companies specialising in sales and marketing, and for a political party.
