We were given a high level of training and education in people management and organisation skills upon joining the company which related well to my degree course. My initial role within the company consisted of working closely with a senior operations manager in order to provide support to 30 members of the sales force. By gaining the trust and respect of my manager and sales representatives, I became the primary point of contact for all matters involving sales targets, monitoring of deals and support for the sales reps in the field. This required constant interaction and communication with all levels of staff, from floor level sales representatives to senior management. I had to be instantly up to date with how the business operated, especially as I changed roles mid-way through my placement. Ultimately this gave me the opportunity to expand my role into new areas of the business. Being motivated to outperform my daily targets allowed me to build a strong network of contacts and meet the management team’s needs. I have a strong knowledge of the IT industry and I was integral in re-structuring the management team to help the business meet and exceed objectives for the year. I developed strong interpersonal and transferable skills which I can apply to future careers.
