Apprentice Mechanical, Biomedical And Design Engineering Technician
Current- Passed Apprenticeship and achieved Apprenticeship Certificate 16 months ahead of schedule. - Working with 800+ Mechanical, Biomedical and Design Engineering students and staff to design and manufacture prototype models for teaching/research.- Working within a team to help students from First Year to PhD level with all areas of their projects (design for manufacture, materials, process, machine selection, post-processing).- Organisation of a suite of 3D printers, organising jobs to ensure efficient machine utilisation, particularly at peak times.- Assist with creation and delivery of ‘Modelshop Skills’ Module and various other lessons/modules for various year groups (First Year to Masters).- Extensive use of SolidWorks CAD software for both design and teaching.- Ensuring good operating conditions within Modelshop and Makerspace (health and safety, housekeeping, reporting of maintenance issues, stock takes and advising on material/spare parts required for order).- Use and maintenance of equipment (and software): Ultimaker S5/S3/3/2+ (Cura), Formlabs Form 2/Form 3+ (PreForm), Stratasys J835 Polyjet (GrabCAD Print), Markforged MarkTwo/X-7/Metal-X (Eiger.io), Hobarts X-660 Laser Cutter, Hot Wire Foam Cutters, Vacuum Formers, Hot Wire Strip Heater, Manual Lathe, Hand/Power Tools, HP DesignJet T730.
