Fields Officers are the first point of contact for many Aboriginal people who come into contact with the Criminal Justice sys tem. Aboriginal Field Officers role is to provide support to Aboriginal people who are detained in police or prison custody and those who are required to attend court. Field Officers further provide direction and strategy in consultation with the board and executive team to the growth and ongoing improvement of the learning and development offering Aboriginal people in the community. It was my role to drive continuous improvement in educational materials, program content through engagement with member organisations, government and sector influencers. Along with this I was required to lead a team of education professionals who coordinate the delivery of quality education programs to members and sector organisations.

My role of South Australian Field leader with the Recognise campaign involved planning a variety of events and the strategic direction for the campaign, along with Project managing all events from beginning to end ensuring they meet the target objectives and are all delivered on time and within budget. My role of Principal Home Lending Officer at IBA was to assists in delivering the Program in the South Australian and northern Territory geographical region (including discrete Indigenous communities). A key responsibility was to interact regularly with IBA’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander housing loan applicants, existing borrowers and its external service providers by undertaking client interviews, assessing an applicant’s eligibility for an IBA housing loan, preparing loan submissions. Along with the above I was required to follow up on more complex loan administration matters, prepare detailed loan correspondence and documentation, Compliance and operational understanding of legislation, policies and procedures relevant to IBA.Promotion of the Homes Program via information sessions at community expos, IBA sponsored events and metro/rural field trips, Networking and representation of IBA during a number of community events and undertaking a regular visitation program within the South Australian and Northern Territory regions.
