As a part of my course at Farnborough college of technology I had to organise and run an event, me and a team of people came up with the idea of selling sweets and then giving the money to children in need, during this I got to experience a lot of new things such as creating marketing materials and then posting them on Instagram accounts followed by many people at the college. when we had planned the event we had aimed to raise £100 but ultimately our total was over £200 so we more than doubled our target. we had to plan and budget for the event, we did this by using Excel software for tracking our budget. a big part of this event was making sure people had flexibility when it came to payments, because of this we decided to use an e-commerce platform called Just giving. this needed setting up and managing which is a role I took the responsibility of doing. ultimately it was the combination of a wide range of skills that led to the undeniable success of our charity event.

During my time on the student council I got the opportunity to contribute to some amazing things in the school, these things ranged from organising and helping with charity events to choosing new equipment to be installed within our playgrounds. I got to work with some amazing people and I learnt so many skills that I still use to this day such as public speaking and presenting, I also learnt a lot about teamwork and how important collaboration can be when done correctly. I also had the responsibility to put forward the ideas or my peers so that the school could look into implementing them, this was a responsibility I took very seriously as I knew I held the power to make a positive impact for the people around me.
