Having studied at Headlands Sixth Form whilst working in part time retail roles I completed three A Levels resulting in C grades in English, Media Studies and Business Studies. I left Headlands School in 2009 and began a business administration apprenticeship with East Riding College, my current employer. I had a varied role in my administration post working with Job Centre Plus contracts, short course provision, work based learning including apprenticeships. Upon completion of the apprenticeship scheme I then secured a full time permanent contract within the newly created business development unit at East Riding College. When I joined the team I was heavily involved in the setting up of the processes, procedures and building the client list up for the team. One of the main focuses in the team was to promote apprenticeship schemes to local business and advise them on the all aspects of employing an apprentice. I began to build a rapport with local businesses and I found that my experience as a learner going through the apprenticeship scheme helped me connect with businesses and advise them thoroughly in addition to advising candidates looking to go into apprenticeships. The latest progression in my career was a promotion to Employer Account Manager with East Riding College. In this role I am active in arranging and attending appointments with local businesses to promote all of the college's provision including apprenticeships, NVQ's, short courses and higher education. I have developed and managed a portfolio of businesses that I have worked with in terms of actively listening to their training needs and assisting to exceed expectations. In my job role I work with businesses based in Scarborough, Bridlington, Driffield, Beverley, Hull and surrounding areas and I am the first point of contact for businesses engaging with the College.
