I spent two years working with an incredibly talented and experienced team, trying to answer an equally difficult question: how do we embed philanthropy into everyday life?PRODUCT MANAGEMENT- Ran Agile sprints for our in-house development team as well as offsite contractors.- Took multiple products and projects from requirements gathering to launch, such as our entire search architecture and experience of all 1.4 million nonprofits in the US.- Managed client relationships and implementations with partners like Gap, Zappos, and The Wall Street Journal.- Ran many A/B tests to learn about users and products using Woopra, Optimizely, and Unbounce.UX / DESIGN- Conducted 100+ Lean-style customer and user interviews for B2B, B2C and B2B2C products.- Designed multiple products such as a white-labeled employee giving platform for mid-sized businesses, even a fundraising hub for Britney Spears.- Created wireframes and HD prototypes for multiple products using Balsamiq, Photoshop, and Invision.ANALYTICS / BI- Owned all of our product analytics and reporting using Woopra, Google Analytics, ExactTarget, SurveyMonkey, Geckoboard, and SQL (using Sequel Pro).- Built and managed an internal blog chronicling everything that we had learned about our users, products, marketing, and giving trends.MARKETING- Managed all marketing communications and tests using ExactTarget and MailChimp.- Managed all marketing automation and product-based trigged emails.- Designed and coded all in-house and client emails using Litmus Builder (all designs were mobile-first and responsive).OTHER- Supported the founders in strategy through 2 mergers, a business model pivot, and multiple prospective acquisitions.- Created 2 pieces of IP that were considered for patents, including an algorithm for a recommendation engine that later became the basis for a user influence score- Worked with our team on consulting projects with multiple major national nonprofits.

I designed and produced an iPad-powered photo booth for event photographers. (please see Iris-Workshop.com for our work). I managed the industrial design, prototyping, and 3D modeling for CNC production, and designed and built the web-store on BigCommerce with custom logo design and graphics, HTML, and CSS styling. I also created the marketing and advertising strategy with Facebook Ads, Google Ad Words, blog collaboration, and an affiliate program, while also managing all SEO via Google Webmaster Tools and Analytics.

After traveling the country as a Tour Manager, I began working with independent artists to help them take their songs and turn them into fully produced professional recordings. For each project, I negotiate and manage a budget, book studio musicians and help write their parts, engineer and mix each recording, and work with outside engineers to create a polished finished product. In addition, I help mentor each artist to make sure they can take the next steps in their careers and connect them to other industry professionals.

In 2009 I founded FREEWAYarts to impact the lives of touring musicians and rally creative communities. I built a team of talented professionals and focused on grass-roots projects to mobilize and empower a national user base. In doing so, I learned the indispensable skills of creating sustainable partnerships, developing products around the needs of it’s users, and coordinating a diverse team around a singular goal.

I have toured the country and played on many records as a professional drummer, bringing my management experience to help each artist with their careers and overseeing the live production of each show with my experience as a live sound engineer.

Notoriously one of the most difficult jobs in the music industry, I was the one-man road crew for Island/DefJam Records’ “Artist-To-Break” for 2008 Parachute. I had to lead and care for a team of would-be rockstars as we travelled the country, engineering every show, handling all of the finances, managing a complex schedule of traveling and events, creating new partnerships and sponsorship opportunities, and coordinating with a corporate management team. All from the inside of a van or dimly lit green room.
