Description: At Chris Romero Building Ltd I learned some invaluable construction skills such as handling different power tools and remembering the names of the different building blocks and materials used during each step of the building process. I was regularly expected to wear steel-caps and a toolbelt all day, get things done on time, help build and renovate homes; from the ground up (i.e. foundations, leveling) to the finishing touches (i.e. bathroom lining). Always culminating to a brand-new house up to building code standard.

Description: At my local Noel Leeming branch, storeroom work was often done inside although my duties would also sometimes extend to places outside the store. Inside the Noel Leeming storeroom, the tasks required were either physically demanding (moving whiteware/TVs for delivery, display and/or storage) or scrupulous (always knowing all the latest passwords, all the correct procedures to follow in any given situation, processing inward/outward goods).

Description: At Sycamore Print I regularly met the print, design and typography needs of many clients. This was achieved by a combination of client communication (emails, phone calls and/or meeting in person) as well as digital document pre-press work (mainly using InDesign and other Adobe programs on Mac) which, on the clients' final approval, we would then proceed to mass produce via either digital or offset printing.

Description: Standing still while people draw sketches of you. It's a lot harder than one might imagine. Having been on both sides of the easel, I quickly learned that even though all art students are of widely varying drawing skill levels; they are all equal in requiring the model to be as still as they can for as long as they can which can be very challenging to do well.
