I've architected and built a number of data platform's on a number of cloud providers for use with all major BI applications.I have been writing code since I first touched an Atari 130XE back in the 80’s. In Uni, I studied Files & Databases but majored in Psychology, with a special interest in 'memory and cognition', I also enjoyed Philosophy and discussions about the mind and the nature of ideas.My background as a database developer in the 90's meant that saw the advent of Business Intellience tools take over the world of Crystal reports. I learnt how to model data from relational form to multi-dimensional form before heading to London to work as a Comm's and High Tech Consultant. In London, I appreciated the dawn of digital transactions flying across the internet and learnt what a mission it was getting those transactions into a database and back out for BI Reporting. I headed into the world of data warehousing, and popped out again with the early depolyments of Big Data Archiecture first on appliances then on cloud environments. I guess technically I was lucky to see data and technology advance quickily in my space, but I have always seen 'data-as-data'. In saying that, I started my Company DataGel to see Data transfromed into new forms. like using 'Gel' to paint a pictures. I like that Data is quantitative 1's and Zero's, but can also be qualitative to paint graphs and other objects. Thus the name 'DataGel' - It helps that I love Art so creating new solutions is always interesting.Six years ago I left traditional IT Consulting to head for the hills and live off-grid with my then young family. That adventure continues today and we are truely grateful for taking that leap.Today, I work happily in my off-grid DataGel studio (with lots of whiteboards, Art and design). I work individually and head-up teams depending on your requirements.
