I'm a data engineer working to take a company’s raw data and transform it into meaningful and useful information that can be used to make better business decisions.After working with data for 15 years in various areas of BI, this has given me the ability to develop new systems, bring them online and support them as they evolve; gaining valuable insight into how these systems actually work as a whole and are used in the real world.Being trained as a civil/environmental engineer, I have strong problem solving skills and have always been used to working with both technical and non-technical areas as well as acting as a liaison between them. I enjoy finding practical, efficient solutions to problems and have a passion for understanding how systems work. Most of all though, I love taking unstructured data and using it to solve complex problems, presenting it in a simple, visually appealing way that anyone can understand.Current interests are Data Lake/Mesh design (shipping data as a product), PaaS (especially using Linux, it just works..), data pipelines (especially Python), predicative analytics/data science (Neural networks, R) .
