As the Executive Director of Legislative and Public Affairs for the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), I am committed to facilitating communication between the IURC, members of the Indiana General Assembly, utility stakeholders, and the general public. I am passionate about providing policymakers with the information and guidance they need to make informed decisions about utility regulation in our state.My role as the primary liaison between the IURC and the General Assembly allows me to work closely with legislators and provide them with neutral policy advice on a wide range of utility-related topics, helping give them the information they need to most informed public policy decisions. I have also had the opportunity to present and testify before committees, presenting information in a clear and concise manner to policymakers as well as providing informative answers to questions to help policymakers better understand the complexities of utility regulation and operations.

Advised members on a wide variety of issues, mainly focusing on policy issues in the areas of public health, utilities, and roads & transportation. I assisted members in developing, drafting, and amending their legislation as it moved through the legislative process, working with relevant stakeholders to attract support and address concerns. I also worked closely with my colleagues to summarize each bill moving through the legislative process for our members, enabling them to speak confidently about the overview of each bill to constituents.

Worked directly with three state representatives, including the Speaker Pro Tempore and Chairman of the House Roads & Transportation Committee. Wrote responses to constituents that succinctly explained complex issues and legislation, researched wide-ranging policy questions from representatives, and managed the schedules for all three representatives. Staffed the House Utilities, Energy, & Telecommunications Committee for one year and the House Roads & Transportation Committee for two years. Wrote comprehensive talking points on all legislation that received a vote in the committee as well as detailed reports on all committee hearings.

Taught lab sections for Computer Science classes that covered the Microsoft Office suite, focusingon Excel and Access. Assisted students in completing lab assignments, practicals, and exams. Answered student questions and concerns about the class and its curriculum both during lab and outside of lab. Supervised and helped new teaching assistants during their labs to help with their workload and skill development.

Officiated basketball games for Purdue's intramural basketball winter league. Ran captains’ meetings before each game and communicated quickly and efficiently with the referee team. Addressed conflicts between players and helped resolve issues with contentious calls. Improved ability to focus and make tough, quick decisions.

Assisted incoming freshmen and their families with the process of taking placement exams and registering for classes. Directed families to and from morning orientation and also guided families around campus. Answered a variety of questions from students and family members about Purdue.

Indiana Statehouse

Served as the Bill Reader for the Indiana House of Representatives. Prepared floor reports on legislationfor Republican representatives. Assisted in writing summaries of bills and researching statistics for use in weekly talking points. Created and updated a spreadsheet designed to track all legislation in the General Assembly.
