LCI, a credit data analytics company, was my first programming job. My first projects were automating manual checklists that data analysts used to fix common issues with database entries that had been incorrectly parsed from unstructured data. This freed up analysts to spend time on higher value tasks. Later I created a headless web crawler using RabbitMQ to dispatch jobs between multiple worker nodes.I am particularly grateful to Gladys Lin, Nolan Le, and Nick Washburn for giving me the chance to learn at LCI and for supporting my learning there.

After moving back to the U.S., I spent a few years translating Japanese technical documents into English. Along the way I decided to learn a programming language, and ended up teaching myself Ruby.

Published a monthly English-language translation of the city news magazine and other local government documents.
