Lead Technical ArtistVirtual Heroes May 2008 - Apr 2019As a Tech Artist at Virtual Heroes my responsibilities have involved almost all aspects of game creation. My tasks often include animation, rigging, materials/shaders, effects, level design, scripting (in-game and external), system design/prototyping, training, UI/UX, performance and pipeline management. Game Engine wise I've worked mainly in Unreal Engine 4 (since 2014) but have experience in all previous versions of Unreal (2009) as well as Unity(2011). I have scripting experience in Unreal Blueprint, ActionScript, MEL, Python and C# as well. I've made a number of production tools external to the Engine for handling builds, texture/model creation and ease of use.My main content creation tools are Maya, PhotoShop and MotionBuilder though I've used many other programs/plug-ins over the years (whatever it took to get the job done). I am a competent modeler and animator but my external art production mainly focuses on texture and mesh creation/editing for effects and UI. A key aspect of my role is to evaluate the teams raw art assets for performance considerations.I've worked on large projects with a full team as well as small demos and prototypes often just myself and some C++ backup. I am often responsible for planning/creating full technical systems by creating placeholder art (meshes, materials, characters, animations, effects, blueprints, etc) and scripts (knowing the difference between what should be in blueprint and what needs to later be moved to C++) that can easily be replaced in their final forms.I've trained over 100 people in the use of Unreal 3 and 4 over the years in person as well as over the phone and screen sharing applications. I've trained employees at companies such as Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Cubic Systems, and Alion. Almost all of our training sessions led to direct and ongoing work for Virtual Heroes.
