One of the first 40 employees on this rollercoaster we call startup life. To be honest, I've absolutely loved my time here. I finally found a place I felt at home, yet totally uncomfortable at the same time. I've pushed myself out of my comfort zone and gained countless learnings. I have opinions and the experience to back them up. I'm also having my mind blown everyday, changing my perspective and opinions rapidly. Top learnings:- Knowing when to invest in analytical framework building and segmentation vs simply picking up the phone and calling the customer. Both valuable, but depends on the situation.- Be committed. Test at 110% for a few weeks. Post-mortem, adjust, repeat.- Team really matters. Foster communities within employees of connection, trust, encouragement, and pushing for excellence. Developing a management style which enables this environment.

Before leaving Capital One, I wanted to move into a product and execution driven team. This led me to the exciting corner of Capital One's business -- Travel. While I was on the team, we launched a new travel portal in partnership with Hopper. I led testing for dozens of products, features, and marketing campaigns. This was my first exposure in a full-time role to - Product management- Product marketing- Operations- Quantitative analysisI left this role purely out of a desire to experience a similar role that moved 10-15x faster than Capital One did. I loved what I did, but things much too slow for me to feel satisfied.

Amazing opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest 'strategists' in the world. I feel like I gained a true consulting skill set of- Problem solving in whitespaces- Building frameworks- Communicating and storytelling- Managing stakeholders and cross-functional partnersUltimately, I realized I'm much more of an owner and executer than I am a pure strategic thought partner. Regardless, I loved rubbing shoulders with the extremely smart and talented executives at Capital One.

Started and owned a local small business in the pet grooming industry. No, I didn't groom any dogs or cats (I'm actually allergic to pets!), but I did get to wear countless hats requited to start and operate a small business and grow it to $250k in revenue within the first year. Including but not limited to...- Building / Managing all-start team of 10 employees- Achieving 5.0 star review ratings on Google,Yelp, and Thumbtack- Creating robust marketing plan, budget, and execution- Developing 20%+ revenue and customer growth month over monthUltimately, I was able to exit the business by selling to the first employee after providing ample training to allow this employee to continue to operate successfully. A win-win for both of us!
