Lead Engineer

He worked at Motorola for 13 years as an R&D engineer in three distinct positions. At the Schaumburg location as a member of a small team that prototyped the initial demonstrations of Internet usage over a wireless network and a wrote a major software tools whitepaper. The paper led directly to a corporate effort to develop a standard software development CASE tool kit. At Arlington Heights 1475 building, he was in System Integration and Test (SITG) for the digital cellular Japan PDC product and later CDMA. The first complete PDC phone calls were on his test bed. This position also included the design and use of automated tools to stress test the system performance of a complete digital cellular system. Formal requirements, testing, test tools, reviews, requirements decomposition , root cause analysis, SQL-Informix/Oracle, and version control, test matrices and technical presentations were normal activities. The third position was with Call Processing R&D (Arlington Heights 1501 building) where his roll involved the empirical design of call flows backed by actual statistics to improve system performance or add new features. CDMA Internet data flows and custom tools became his area of expertise.
