Metallurgical Engineer with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pretoria.I have a valuable 10+ years experience in Coke, Sinter, iron and steel making processes. Experience spreads over the following aspects as Engineer:* Safety: Plant champion in a profile of Contractor management; and vehicle and driving.* Liaising with the upstream suppliers and downstream customer: Discussions with all involved parties are about Raw materials, Hot Metal quality and as casted steel product. These discussions are mainly about raw material savings that can be realised as an integrated circuit (Coke, Sinter, Iron and steel making).* Raw material cost control and cost savings ideas: Manipulate the raw material choice through mass balance to yield less cost while achieving the optimal quantity and quality - Raw materials basket control. Process monitoring and optimisation: Manipulating process variables in order to stabilise, improve and achieve the customer specifications in terms of quality and quantity as cost effective as possible.Project management: I coordinate activities, resources, equipment and information in line with project scope and liaise with contractors to identify and define project requirements to ensure clarity on what is expected. I monitor and track project’s progress projects daily. And I also handle safety aspects. * Growth and continuity: I am currently a mentor to 2 candidate Metallurgical Engineers. This helps in knowledge transfer and guidance to promote a smooth transition from tertiary level to an industrial level. Coaching and giving technical insights of the process to the process operator for better understanding of the process in order to promote proactive response to process deviations. * Business improvement: Generation of cost saving ideas mainly in terms of raw materials charged in the furnace.*Process automation models: Introduction of Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics System and Sachem models to enable proactive response to process deviations. * Process models: Involvement in the validation, commission and application of process models.
