Worked 20+ hours/week here throughout the duration of my time at Cal Poly Pomona. Whether graveyard or weekend shifts, I always managed to find the time to earn my wage here. Project Manager

Aiaa Undergraduate Spacecraft Design Competition

Pomona, Ca

Reusable Lunar Surface Access Vehicle (RLSAV)- 1st place winner in the international AIAA competition - Rendezvouses with the Lunar Orbital Platform Gateway (LOP-G)- Serves as a delivery system between the LOP-G and the lunar surface- Capable of multiple missions between the moon and the LOP-G- 3 module system designed with intent to reduce descent mass - Capable of transporting 15 metric tons of cargo or 4 crew members AIAA released a request for proposal for the RLSAV at the end of summer 2018. At this time, the team and I worked to gain an understanding of all the subsystems necessary for the spacecraft to fulfill the mission objectives. I was selected by the team to lead due to my previous experience with the LRL, and was set in charge of creating and delegating tasks to all members of the team, including myself. While managing the team of seven seniors, I worked hard to develop the spacecraft's structural design and propulsion system. On top of this, I collaborated with team members to develop a MATLAB script which generated the RLSAV's dynamic response to its 3-axis thruster control system and another script which determined the most fuel efficient trajectory for the system to reach the lunar surface. Due to the effort from myself and the entire team, we were recently awarded 1st place in AIAA's international competition for our originality and innovation in developing the technical solution to the RFP.

Mobile Rocket Engine Test System (MRETS)- Trailer mounted system which structurally supports up to 5,000 lbs of thrust during engine static fire- Adaptable to various rocket engine interfaces- First liquid bipropellant rocket engine feed system designed for Cal Poly Pomona- Gathers pressure, temperature, mass flow rate, and thrust data - Uses Labview MyRIO for sensor reading and valve controlThis project marks the beginning of my engineering career. I joined the team as a systems engineer in its early days where it was nothing more than a set of major requirements. I developed the work breakdown structure for the project and formulated lower-level requirements for the design of the system. From there, I earned a position as a paid intern over the 2017 summer where I led the team to design the structures, electronics, and feed system for the project. Once summer ended, I was given the title of Chief Engineer over the project, where I took the project from its design phase to manufacturing and finally into its testing phase where it is now. If all goes well, Cal Poly Pomona will fire its first biprop rocket engine using the system I've poured my heart and soul into some time during the 2019-2020 academic school year.Tasks performed throughout the duration of this experience included, but were not limited to: Creation, delegation, and tracking of engineering tasks for structural, fluid system, and electronics teamsRequirements development and trackingDevelopment of preliminary test procedures to validate functionality of entire systemCreation of piping and instrumentation diagrams, functional flow charts, and other key charts Development of adaptable engine mount, load bearing truss, and blast protection in the event of engine ruptureBolt analyses for mounting of test stand components to trailer bedPressure drop calculations for propellant delivery system
