About Luis Lupian

I am a Robotics Engineer with over 20 years of experience in developing autonomous mobile robots. For the past 7+ years, I have focused on product management and the development of hardware/software products in the field of mobile robotics.Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of attracting and leading groups of talented and enthusiastic young professionals in mobile robotics. My journey began in academic research and has since transitioned to startup companies of various sizes in Mexico, Germany, and the United Kingdom. In my latest role as the Chief Technology Officer at Kingdom Technologies in Scotland, I was responsible for directing the technical vision, strategy, and execution of our autonomous robotic lawnmowing solution. My emphasis is on delivering a robust product that can be scaled globally. From early 2017 until mid-2019, I established and led the team that developed Roomie Bot, the first commercial mobile robot from the Mexican market. This role involved overseeing all stages of the robot's design and development from concept to multiple functional prototypes. As a Research Professor, I founded and directed the Mobile Robotics and Automated Systems Laboratory at Universidad La Salle. Along with my collaborators, I developed humanoid robots and other autonomous mobile robots. Our lab’s work received national and international attention, participating in six editions of the RoboCup World Championship and other notable events with our autonomous football-playing humanoid robots.Since 2006, I have been an active participant in the Mexican Federation of Robotics, which I co-founded and presided over, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the RoboCup Federation. I was one of three chairs for the RoboCup 2012 World Championship, which I co-organized in Mexico City with several colleagues.I have frequently been interviewed by various media outlets and invited to speak at specialized events to share my views on the current state and prospects of mobile robotics. Through these forums, I have advocated for the significant potential of mobile robotics technologies as an emerging market. My academic background combines Control Theory and Computer Science. I hold a Master of Science degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which I pursued under a Fulbright fellowship.
