  • Government Of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority
    Research Trainee
Government Of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority Dec 1998 - Jan 2000
    Karachi Airport
As a group of Research Trainees in Civil Aviation, we first approached the CAA-appointed delegate responsible for overseeing interns. With his support, we established a provisional committee consisting of key personnel from each area, including Air ATC, Safety, Airside Ops., Ground Handling, Facility Management, Emergency Response, Airfield Lighting, Procurement, and Administration. This committee, composed of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from each area, provided us with valuable guidance, significantly facilitating our research. Their expertise allowed us to deeply understand how each section of civil aviation is interconnected and how they collectively contribute to smooth operations. With this foundation, we proceeded to map out the operational processes using flowcharts, process mapping, and business process reengineering (BPR) techniques. This approach helped us identify opportunities for improving workflow and eliminating inefficiencies.Based on our findings, we developed a set of recommendations aimed at optimizing the operational flow. We then held multiple meetings with management to present these recommendations. Thanks to the active coordination throughout the research process and the committeeโ€™s involvement, management appreciated the thoroughness of our approach and readily adopted our proposals. This collaborative effort led to a more efficient, well-integrated operation within the organization.
