Luthando Brukwe is currently the Head of Strategy and Special Projects in the Mineworkers Development Agency, responsible for the implementation and coordination of the overall of the organational strategy towards the achievement of socio-economic development of former mineworkers, their dependants, and their communities (host and Labour sending).In March 2018 was awarded a Special Award by the Premier of Gauteng an Excellence Award on Community Development for work done over the years, this is over and above being named as one of the top 200 influential young person in Community Service by the Mail & Guardian In 2017.From October 2017 till April 2018, I was employed at the Ministery of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Parliamentary Liaison Officer, my duties included the overall management and coordination of the Minister's Parliamentary Office. Liaising with Parliamentary Presiding Officers and ensuring the Department fulfils its obligations to Parliament, including to the Portfolio Committees. In 2012 I was appointed as the Head of Transformation Unit by the National Union of Mineworkers, my duties included the monitoring and evaluating of the Mining and Construction Charters; the Implementation of Social and Labour Plan’s by mining companies, Compliance with the Department of Mineral Resources Regulations and advise the union’s leadership on present legislative framework. This also included the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment from construction companies. I also served on various Employee Share Ownership Trusts, my fiduciary duties included the administration of the Trust according to the Trust Property Act 1988, and Trust Deeds and ensuring all trust assets are effectively distributed to all beneficiaries.I also represented the union at the Construction Sector Charter Council, NEDLAC, MIGDETT and as a Board Member in the Mineral & Petroleum Board in terms of Section 57 of the Minerals & Petroleum Resources Development Act 2002.
