I work one on one with doctoral candidates who need coaching and assistance in the most challenging step of the doctoral journey... the dissertation.

The Chief Executive Officer reports to, and works directly with, the Board of Governors, and is empowered to: lead and manage Allied American University; oversee strategic planning and set university vision and goals; provide day-to-day leadership and management to the Provost, COO, CFO, Chief Enrollment Management Officer, Director of Marketing, Accreditation Liaison Officer, Director of Compliance, Executive Director of Personnel and Development, and CIO; work with and support the management teams in each division to provide vision and direction, and demand a values-based approach to management and decision making for all leaders; ensure financial sustainability, secure and maintain appropriate accreditation; lead the development of the strategic plan and present the final plan to the Governing Board for their approval. The President/CEO also represents the institution to all outside stakeholders to foster growth and development, establish credibility within the academic community, and foster a best-practices approach to the pursuit of the fulfillment of the mission and vision of Allied American University.

Works directly with the president and Board of Governors, and is empowered to make a variety of strategic and tactical decisions impacting AAU; develops and fosters effective collaboration among all major stakeholders, department managers and support staff to ensure an integrated approach to achieving university goals; provides day-to-day leadership and management to the Admissions, Student Affairs, Registrar, Institutional Research, Instructional Design/CCD, Publishing and Career Center departments; is responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all internal processes; provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the company; works with and supports the management team of each department to help reduce costs, enhance revenue, and achieve university goals; leads the development of the strategic plan and presents the final plan to the Governing Board for their approval; and assumes the duties of the CEO in the absence of the President.

DEAN OF BUSINESS: The dean is responsible for all the operations and activities of the College of Business as well as the College of General Studies. The dean serves as the top academic administrator within the schools, is empowered to make decisions impacting the schools, and is accountable to the provost. The dean assumes the following responsibilities, along with others that are assigned by the provost: selects and supervises faculty; writes and enforces rules and policies, and executes University and College of Business programs, as directed by the provost; represents faculty to higher administration and advises the Faculty Senate; represents the College of Business and the University to internal and external stakeholders; overseas College of Business accreditation activities, as well as local, state, and federal compliance activities, and serves on University-wide accreditation committees; works to secure adequate resources for the operation of the College of Business through the provost’s office; supports and overseas faculty and staff development, and oversees all course development.DIRECTOR OF ASSESSMENT: The director of assessment oversees all assessment of student learning at the institutional level, handles all assessment related efforts with regard to national and regional accreditation, and oversees the assessment department staff, focusing on their development and effectiveness. The director reports to the president.

I was elected on November 4, 2008 as the At Large member of the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Board of Education. I chair the Personnel Committee and serve on a few others.
