I have 9 years of teaching experience as a Physical Education and Health Teacher. I am certified K-12 and certified in Drivers Education. I have a deep passion for what I do and a genuine connection to my students. My philosophy on Physical Education is to create a learning atmosphere that emphasizes Wellness, Physical Fitness, social and emotional growth, and to encourage students to lead a physically active lifestyle. I believe Physical Education was designed to develop each child's physical, social and emotional learning through a series of carefully planned and conducted activities. Children are at different developmental levels, with different needs and interests, and for this reason, I think activities should be geared toward a wide range of activities and a wide range of fitness levels. I encourage my students to always work toward their personal best. Cooperation, Sportsmanship and Teamwork are stressed at every single grade level and positively reinforced at every single class session because I believe these qualities are essential for students to work in small groups, with a partner, and even in cooperative games. My Physical Education lessons are designed to develop skillful, fit and knowledgable movers to enjoy participation in a lifetime of activities. It's my goal to help my students participate in lifelong activities that are going to lead to better fitness. Therefore, I do not focus on the competitive nature of sports. Instead, I teach my students games that are non-threatening and in a positive environment where cooperation and teamwork are the primary objectives. I believe that students will increase their participation in sports if they have fun playing them. Through these experiences, I hopefully can instill in my students a sense of personal responsibility to maintain a healthy body and appreciate the quality of life that comes with being physically and mentally fit.
