Luz María Solís' professional career has centered on the education of young Mexican/Latino children and their families. Her passion has driven her advocacy towards a “Quality & Equitable Education,” the cornerstone for Latinos and life in general. Demonstrated throughout her career, whether it was as a bilingual teacher or Executive Producer/producer of Mi Escuelita, an award winning Spanish-language children's educational TV show, she has remained steadfast in these principles.She understands education is the equalizer that enables Latinos reach their potential and ready to assume leadership roles. Thus, her mission has been to provide the knowledge, skills and support so children may be successful in school and more importantly, in life. Ms.Solis' expertise are in early childhood education, early childhood dual-language and parental involvement. She enjoys developing creative and successful initiatives. She created and directed the Padres-A-Padres Literacy Program. The goal of the program was to train parents as their preschool child's "First Teacher." Its success was measured when twentyfive percent of the children in Padres were admitted to a selectively enrolled Chicago Public Schools Regional Gifted Center.As the founder and President of Chicago Dia de los Niños, she continues her mission - Education: Every Child, Every Dream. She chairs the committee who host the annual and signature Chicago Dia de los Ninos Parade & Celebration- the venue that provides scholarships for DACA students.Most recently, she is one of the contributing authors of Chicago Latina Trailblazers, due to be released September, 17, 2024.
