Completed patient intake by collecting vitals, updating recent medical history and medication changes, assessed history of present illness and roomed patients. I also completed the check-out process for our patients and assisted in procedures. In between patients, I communicated via phone with patients, pharmacists, and private insurance representatives to coordinate medical care for our patients, including medication refills and prior authorizations.

The Civic Scholars program is a paid research program funded by Bob Graham Center for Public Service. Through the program, I gained experience in research and public service experience on key issues facing Florida: affordable housing (2019) and climate change (2020). I researched the climate change impacts in Orange County, Florida and the preparedness measures taken by local government to mitigate these impacts by conducting interviews with Orange County Resource Officer and climate change activists. I also collected data from various databases, including the CDC's National Environmental Public Health Tracking Query Tool.My report supports the development of a new public portal, Barometer Florida, to help the public track progress on climate change in the 67 counties.

I was chosen as one of the 50 2018 Action Scholars to attend a four day conference about community issues, non-profit leadership, social entrepreneurship, and project development. My team and I were paired with the local chapter of Days for Girls and spent a day with their leadership learning about their mission, obstacles and goals. We later synthesized all the information learned to create an Action Plan, which was awarded the Collaborative Fellowship grant of $2,000 for the Days for Girls chapter. Assembly for Action is the 2019 recipient of the “Champions for Change” award, which recognizes individuals and groups that have made significant contributions to the University of Florida community in the areas of sustainability and/or health.
