Under the supervision of the Student Support Counselor at Clear Brook High School, I was able to meet with kids individually as well as facilitate groups that helped them to be more effective within their school, social, and familial environments. The students could schedule an appointment to talk with me about anything ranging from troubled home life to break ups to coping with everyday stresses. I conducted a Stress Management Group as well as a Relationships Group on a solo basis. Additionally, I co-facilitated an Anger Management Group and two Family Issues Groups, with a senior therapist.

• Leading interactive group sessions with couples who are at an economic disadvantage and have variegated cultural backgrounds who are in the process of getting married• Assisting couples in acquiring and practicing various skills such as healthy and direct communication, stress management, problem solving, assessment of the couples’ expectations of one another, looking at the past and how that is effecting them currently, and other various techniques to nourish a successful partnership

•Consulting with the local area education agency in regard to providing one-on-one assistance to several special case children, in particular, one child with attachment problems and two with autism.•Observing and extensively documenting all behaviors and/or changes in behavior in regard to the special case children.•Expanding the children’s mental capabilities by engaging them in the allotted preschool time, reading, various educational activities and interacting inquisitively with each child. •Encouragement of emotional development by reinforcing the practice of conflict resolution among the children themselves before first approaching a teacher regarding a situation.•Working with a diverse population of children and their families including, but not limited to, variegated ethnicities, ability levels, socioeconomic status, and temperaments.

•Providing companionship to elderly clients (e.g. discussing historical events, current events, hobbies, family, interests, etc.)•Instilling the confidence necessary for seniors to remain independent in their own homes. •Fostering involvement within the senior regarding housework, while providing assistance where needed.•Completing business outside of the home that the client may not otherwise be able to do themselves.
