One of my first memories in school is from kindergarten, the day we were learning how to tie our shoelaces. The teacher was teaching us the standard shoe knot, where you make the loop with one end of the shoelace, wrap the other lace around the first loop, and then make another small loop and pull it through. As a kindergarten student I could not figure out all the loops of the standard shoe knot and my teacher told me I was learning too slow and how could I not know how to tie my shoes. Unbeknownst to her, I knew how to tie my shoes. I only mastered the two bunny ear loop knot method. Throughout my lifetime I have continued to develop this skill of creative problem solving. That if there is a will, there is a way. However, every individual processes and learns in a way unique to them.I apply this school of thought to all my interactions with people, which has given me the ability to build strong relationships, stay humble, and celebrate individuality. I strive to create an open and welcoming environment, fostering trust and community. My goal when I travel is not to sight see, but to find the local communities and culture and let them tell their stories. This is how I found the best fresh asparagus dish in Hamburg! You will find me obsessing over orange cats, coffee, and nature. In my spare time you can find me volunteering with the LGBTQIA+ community, painting with friends, playing the most recent New York Times games, and researching and analyzing LGBTQIA+ topics.
