I used to be a young entrepreneur driven by a dream of bringing pho, a Vietnamese staple pronounced as ‘fuh’, to the rest of the world. I successfully realised this vision through the establishment of Pho24, a pho restaurant chain that thrived with 70 outlets across Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, Cambodia, Korea, Japan, and Australia in its peak year of 2010. During the expansion of Pho24 restaurant chain, I introduced a few foreign F&B concepts to the local market, including the Australian coffee chain Gloria Jean’s, the Singaporean bakery BreadTalk, and the Canadian dessert chain Yogan Fruz. This allowed me to wear two hats – serving as both the franchisor, selling the franchise system I created (Pho24 chain), and the franchisee, purchasing and learning from other franchise systems. Subsequently, in 2011, I successfully exited Pho24 and other F&B ventures. I relocated to Australia, where I dedicated more time to my other passion: teaching and inspiring younger generations. Today, I hold the role of Adjunct Professor at Western Sydney University in Australia. In 2019, I received the prestigious Honorary Doctor of Letters Award from the same university, recognising my contribution and achievements. In 2023, I returned to Vietnam and collaborated with the International School of Business at UEH University to introduce the unique LQT entrepreneurial program, Bachelor of Business. This program aims to complement the traditional academic curriculum by incorporating several soft and practical skill units that are crucial for aspiring entrepreneurs and leaders. One of the key features of the program is providing students with numerous opportunities to engage with the real business world through a series of LQT Talks delivered by influential and inspiring entrepreneurs and professionals. In addition to my business ventures, teaching and pioneering a new approach to entrepreneurship education, I have been an author for the past 15 years. I have published two books on franchising, one book on brand building for SMEs, one book on the restaurant business, one book for startups, an autobiography, and most recently, a book for those seeking business successes through differentiation. Most of my books have been reprinted several times, and two of them have become best-sellers.
