Spent a summer working with the Cloud Development Kit in AWS. I updated internal CDK templates using Typescript and implemented CloudFormation Guard Rules to increase security and compliance with best practices for developers across the company. In this internship I also had the chance to lead a 6-person intern hackathon team that won the audience vote at a company-wide presentation.

My university's work-study program is growing as we continue to get more students every year. In the summer of 2023, I sensed a need for more focus on the organization of the work-study department, and pitched this role to implement more structure into the department. I managed a team of 7 class representatives, created automated digital workflows for processing job applications and timecards, and updated the student handbook to mitigate disagreements and misunderstandings between managers and students.

Served as a TA for Minerva University's Multimodal Communications Course. This is a mandatory first-year course where students produce and analyze different media. While the main focus is on writing, there are also units on music, video, and visual art. My primary role was grading each class session for either an in-class poll or a piece of homework. I also held weekly office hours where I gave feedback on assignment drafts and answered questions about the readings.

Worked on a crew of 18 planters in a piecework environment. Personally planted almost 88,000 trees. Developed a fierce work ethic and collaborative attitude. For more information, check out my first post on my profile.

As an RA I was responsible for a group of 10 international first-year students as they settled into university life. From my experience in an international boarding high school, I was able to provide one-on-one support to students with day-to-day concerns, as well as conducting occasional conflict resolution sessions in light of roommate conflicts. As part of the residential living team, I was also responsible for planning events for community building and city exploration. I organized monthly small get-togethers like picnics or yoga in the park. I also coordinated a cohort-wide game of assassin with over 80 players and a ran showdown event between four finalists.Finally, in my second semester, I helped plan a COVID quarantine after an unexpected breakout. I made sure that all students had safe access to shared washroom and kitchen facilities, and oversaw COVID testing for approximately 50 students.

In my final year of high school, I was chosen as one of two students for an external internship at a Tokyo Startup. Alongside my IB exam preparation, I completed three projects in three months. My first two projects - designing a font and editing the company website - familiarized me with the company and agile development framework. My final project was writing a webscraper using the Beautiful Soup Python package. I then used the Google Sheets API to feed the data into a spreadsheet. While this startup is no longer running, this served as a valuable introduction to the tech industry that solidified my desire to pursue it in university.
