I currently provide regulatory and ethical oversight to ensure that human volunteers participating in research activities are protected in accordance to federal regulation (The Common Rule, 45 CFR 46) and institutional policies. As a Senior Human Subjects Research Protections Analyst at the Department of Homeland Security, I serve as a subject matter expert, guiding compliance and policy development to safeguard participants in cutting-edge science and technology research and development programs. I conduct research reviews, provide research determination recommendations, develop and implement policy, guidance, and standard operating procedures, and provide research education, training and compliance consultations. I work closely with privacy and legal sectors to ensure the safeguarding of human data and information. I have a proven track record of improving operational processes and formulating policy and guidance that address complex ethical concerns across a range of research domains, including sociobehavioral, clinical, AI, social media and internet research, biometrics, and security. With a strong foundation in clinical research, research policy and legal experience, I plan to effectively develop, implement, and execute research solutions institutionally and globally. I aim to be a resource wherever I am. Whatever role I take on, it will always involve working with people. I believe that communication, connection, and collaboration are driving forces for real change, effective impact, and true success.
