I'm broadly interested in the intersection of conservation, behavioral, and microbial ecologies, with a particular passion for the lemurs of Madagascar. For my dissertation research, I am therefore studying various species of indriid, a group of highly folivorous and endangered lemurs, both in the Eastern rainforests of Madagascar and at the Duke Lemur Center. Specifically, I am relating variation in diet quality, habitat quality, and gut microbiomes across indriids, to hopefully provide insight into the symbiosis between mammals and their gut bacteria that can help inform conservation and management strategies. I also have volunteered as an educational docent and outreach researcher at the Duke Lemur Center since 2007. There, I help teach school children and the general public about the importance of lemur conservation and human aid in Madagascar. Previously, as a Research Associate at Duke University, I was involved in projects focused on the reproductive endocrinology of wild meerkats, and olfactory communication in various primates and carnivores.
