Her prior roles at WADOH include Health Equity and HIV Community Services Manager and Stigma Reduction Coordinator. In that role she took an intersectional approach to address the multiple manifestations of stigma. Lydia won the National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors’ (NASTAD) 2018-2019 Chair’s Challenge Award, in recognition of her health equity work related to ending the HIV epidemic, her contributions to the End AIDS Washington initiative, and her success modeling leadership for partners on the national level.Lydia has been active in the anti- violence against women movement for thirty years. She is committed to the creation of prevention and intervention strategies that are relevant, culturally compelling, and innovative. From 1992 – 2013 Lydia worked in rape crisis centers in addition to the state sexual assault coalition in Washington State. Her primary responsibilities included training, technical assistance, and resource production for sexual assault service providers throughout the state as well as nationally. Her focus was the development and implementation of community mobilizing strategies specific to sexual violence.
