Lydia Muniz is an accomplished executive with more than 15 years experience in real estate development and management and over 20 years experience in program and policy development and implementation. Lydia is Director of Planning, Design and Construction for BlackIvy Group, a company that builds and grows commercial enterprises in Sub-Saharan Africa. In that capacity she guides the development of projects in the BlackIvy real estate portfolio, including planning, design and construction of residential and commercial projects.Prior to joining BlackIvy, Lydia served as Director of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) from June 2012 until January 2017, and as Principal Deputy Director from 2009 until 2012. While at OBO, Lydia was responsible for worldwide planning, design, construction, acquisition, sale, maintenance, preservation, furniture and art programs for all U.S. government diplomatic properties abroad. As Director, she oversaw over 1,000 employees managing a portfolio of 269 embassies and consulates in 168 countries - over 80 million square feet of of owned and leased office and residential properties worldwide.Lydia was with New York University (NYU) from 2001 to 2009 where she served in a number of positions, including Associate Vice President in the Office of Strategic International and Business Projects, advising the university on the development of international branch campuses; and Associate Vice President for the Division of Campus Planning, Design and Real Estate, providing leadership for the University in the areas of capital planning, space planning, design and real estate planning, acquisition and sales.Prior federal service includes positions as Deputy Director of the Department of Media Affairs in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH); Special Assistant for Policy in the Office of the Secretary of the Army; Legislative Assistant in the Office of Legislative Affairs of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB); and Office Manager for the Honorable Leon E. Panetta in the U.S. House of Representatives.A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Lydia also holds a Masters degree in International Affairs from Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs, with a concentration in Economic and Political Development.
