As a volunteer with the Air and Space Museum, I work in the astronomy education section. Weather, permitting, I assist in sun spotting outside the museum. I set up sun spotting equipment and answer visitor questions and facilitate safe sun viewing. When inside, I set up and lead various astronomy education stations on topics such as meteorites and exoplanets. This involves setting up relevant equipment, viewing aids, and software. I then answer visitor questions and engage them in discovery activities to teach them about various astronomy concepts.

As an Associate Program Manager, I manage three main portfolios: program creation and implementation, hotel coordination, and supervision of the social media team. Regarding program creation, I conduct research and design IVLP programs on a broad range of issues to achieve project and U.S. foreign policy goals. I cultivate and effectively manage relationships with our Department of State partners and local stakeholders to coordinate all programmatic elements. I produce high-quality project deliverables in adherence to IVLP policies and various deadlines. I also manage administrative and logistical project components related to travel, lodging, and any unexpected situations as they arise. This may require the arrangement of virtual project components and troubleshooting of emergency scenarios. I also deal with various databases, tracking spreadsheets, and related systems.Regarding hotel coordination- I am responsible for all Washington D.C. and New York bookings for our office. This requires that I maintain relationships with local hotels through constant engagement and site visits. I manage several spreadsheets to maintain appropriate booking details for upcoming projects with competing deadlines. I also manage any disputes or issues that arise between our programming team and our partner hotels. I serve as a point of contact for the whole office.Regarding social media supervision- I supervise and support MCID's social media team. In this capacity, I participate in and organize quarterly external and internal communications meetings. I support the current social media content team by serving as a sounding board and approving posts. I also keep the team on track to meet our short and long-term goals.In my role as Associate Program Manager, I have also instituted structural additions to our office to improve performance, such as an onboarding guide for program coordinators and guides for maintaining social media content. I fulfill many office manager duties.

As a citizen science contributor on the “Are We Alone in the Universe?” Project, I virtually sorted through radio technosignatures to identify them. Through pattern recognition, I classified these images collected from the Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia into groups for researchers to examine later. The mission of this project is to search for complex life in our galaxy. Citizen scientists identify the most promising, or irregular, signals and help build artificial intelligence tools to recognize RFI. I also worked on the “Dark Energy Explorers” project. In this role, I identified distant galaxies and black holes using spectral lines and images collected by the Hobby-Eberly telescope.

As a National Parks volunteer, I worked at the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the national mall where I interacted with visitors and gave tours.

As a volunteer, I attend vaccination events on campus and fulfill sanitation and organizational roles as well as whatever else is needed.
