I've experienced many situations that cause others to say, "Poor Lydia." Me? I just ask what do you want me to learn from this Lord? Often the lessons are difficult but I have noticed a strength within me that was never there before. The struggles have accomplished one thing, I’ve learned to rely on God for EVERYTHING. I enjoy seeing God at work in people's lives; seeing confusion in what they are experiencing and then see when they realize God is the only one that can and will turn their life and situation around. In the 70’s God answered my prayer for a job. Did I get a good job? I sort of did. With no formal training but with a passion to speak to anyone who would listen I became the first female DJ at KVET Radio in Austin Texas and the Midnight Angel to those awake at night. The Midnight Angel was the name bestowed on me by truck drivers listening to me as they passed through Austin and then put me on their CB radios so others driving 18 wheelers could hear me. It also brought a whole new audience…those with CB radios in their homes. Soon I started receiving phone calls, flowers, candy and marriage proposals. On April 13, 2014 I was honored as the USA’s FIRST HISPANIC FEMALE DJ IN COUNTRY MUSIC. Imagine this former cotton picker having her picture hung in the Austin History Center. God does shower HIS children…doesn’t HE?Doors opened, lunches at the Governor’s mansion, I co-hosted a local TV talk show and wrote a column for the Austin Sun. I have worked as a consultant creating events for non-profits, small and large businesses, have produced both Gospel and Country shows, conferences, worked with authors as a publicist/agent and have written and voiced spots for events and products. I am a Chaplain and an ordained minister and am rejoicing for God has healed me of third Stage Cancer...and oh, what a joy it was to hear the Oncologist say, "There is no evidence of disease." .
