I am a current student teacher at Ellis Mendell Elementary School in Boston Public Schools and plan to continue teaching in BPS. I have effectively led classroom instruction and supported individual students in many practicum teaching experiences, including 6th-grade social studies, 3rd-grade general education, 1st-grade reading, kindergarten general education, and 6th-grade math and science. In these professional experiences, I have taught science, math, social studies, language arts, and phonics instruction. I have demonstrated an ability to consider the racial, cultural, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds of individual students and differentiate my teaching to meet individuals’ needs and help students master learning objectives. I demonstrated academic excellence throughout my undergraduate studies by maintaining a 4.00 GPA and earning many educational scholarships and awards. I am in a unique position to help schools in their pursuit of educational equity because I have a background in studying both education and sociology. I have studied how systemic conditions limit opportunities for students depending on their socioeconomic status, race, and other social circumstances. I foster inclusive classroom communities through student-centered instruction and empower students to become active global citizens. I am committed to the aspects of community, diversity, and equity in the field of education.
