Creative Director Developing Brand Identity & Recognition With Award-Winning DesignJsj Pharma/Innocutis/Cipher Pharmaceuticals Jan 2005 - 2016Charleston, ScA specialty dermatology pharmaceutical company, Cipher began as a start-up called JSJ Pharmaceuticals in 2005, merged with Innocutis Medical, LLC in 2011, and was acquired by Cipher Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in 2015.I came on board as Creative Director in the first year. As the only designer in a fledgling company, I loved the opportunity this presented to help shape the organization’s brand identity. Working closely with executive leadership, I did everything from helping name products, designing logos and packaging, and fashioning our trade show booth to creating corporate and product websites and developing sales and patient education pieces. As the company grew, so too did the scope of my work. I performed cross-functional creative, management, and marketing operations including problem-solving for print and digital collateral, project management for incoming and outgoing projects, creative agencies and third-party resources, as well as internal information exchange for creative projects. Art Director & Team Leader Specializing In Logo & Packaging Design, Corporate Collateral & CatalogsS. Walter Packaging Feb 1998 - Dec 2004Philadelphia, PaIn business over a century, S. Walter Packaging employs 100+ employees to serve the needs of over 23,000 customers worldwide.As Art Director of our in-house art department, I managed a staff of three, as well as third-party hired services like photographers and stylists for catalog production. Our role — designing logos and packaging designs for mostly small to midsize retail shops nationwide — entailed a great deal of interdepartmental collaboration. I served as a liaison between the art department, sales department, and in-house print shop, as well as the purchasing department for outsourced printing. Initially, this presented quite a challenge. Turnover was high in our department, with few employees lasting more than six months. Our relationship with sales and other departments was weak to non-existent, and the disconnect affected the quality and efficiency of our work.I brought stability to the department and my staff, building a team that gained the respect and confidence of our sales department and delivered a higher level of design to customer projects. This lead to more sales and higher profile accounts, increasing our credibility with upper management who ultimately entrusted us with the design of all corporate collateral and catalogs.Key Achievements:• Team Building & Leadership: I transformed our in-house art department from a high turnover, low efficiency team to a productive and stable one, capable of collaborating with other departments to drive revenue by securing key accounts including Talbots, Mrs. Fields, A Pea in the Pod, Motherhood Maternity, White House Black Market, Charlotte Russe, Hershey Park, the Philadelphia Flower Show, Morris Arboretum, and Albright Nox Museum.• External & Internal Accolades: I received the American Corporate Identity 20 Award of Excellence for my design of the corporate brochure, as well as the company’s Creative Arts Award, presented to the Art Department during our 100th Anniversary Celebration. -
