Lead Sacred Heart's key strategic initiatives and oversee the Power and Organizing Division which engages in grassroots organizing, coalition building, policy advocacy, and capacity building of partner organizations to build community power to advance racial justice in our region.

Design and advance SVCF’s strategic priority to ensure Silicon Valley is a place where everyone has access to economic and asset-building resources to thrive. This strategic initiative helps create financial stability for low-income, immigrant and communities of color in our region.

Provide leadership to SHCS’ program divisions and spearhead efforts to align them with the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the organization. Responsible for direct supervision, coaching, and training to the leadership and staff of the essential services, energy, family assistance, homelessness prevention, and self-sufficiency divisions with a focus on program impact, member engagement/voice, and leadership development. Support the Executive Director in developing and strengthening partnerships with community-based organizations, philanthropic and public sector investors.

Provide leadership in SHCS’ efforts to build community, and cultivate allies and investment in our vision, mission, programs, and campaigns. Lead efforts to develop the skills, consciousness, and involvement of a diverse membership in mutual support initiatives and policy campaigns. Oversee and support the community engagement and funds development teams that are responsible for communications, community education, volunteer engagement, and resource development.

Support the Councilmember by planning, directing, and evaluating the overall operation of his office and legislative staff; develop and oversee public relations, communications, and legislative strategies; represent the Councilmember at governmental, community group, and stakeholder meetings; assume responsibility for the office in the absence of the Councilmember; and prepare or supervise staff assigned to develop written memoranda and reports which articulate his proposals, priorities, and positions on matters pending before the City Council or other governmental agencies.

Provide executive level leadership in SHCS' portfolio of a diverse array of asset development, employment, education, family support, and urban gardening programs. These programs support working poor and immigrant families in building pathways to family self sufficiency while also engaging them as leaders and problem solvers who collectively identify their own creative solutions to the wide disparity of wealth in Silicon Valley.

Provided senior management for two departments in this county-wide consortium of community clinics. These programs paved pathways to health professions for high school, undergraduate, and medical school students, provided HIV outreach, testing, and case management services for high risk, marginalized communities, trained and built capacity in local community clinics that would increase access to healthcare services for the medically underserved, and produced the largest annual professional development conference for medical providers on HIV/AIDS prevention and care in 5 South Bay counties.

Identified and developed research strategies for social marketing campaigns aimed at reducing the risk of transmission of HIV among HIV-positive men who have sex with men, and decreasing tobacco use among youth. Extensive public and media relations relative to community event production, program promotion, and health-related media messages. Oversight of funds distribution cycle in compliance with federal/state regulations and provided technical assistance for 24 non-profit agencies in behavioral health including primary prevention and harm reduction services, science-based strategies, and program planning. Coordinated collaborative meetings to strengthen community partnerships between Health Services, non-profit agencies, school administrators, law enforcement, and policy makers. Also trained and developed a county coalition of high school peer leaders to deliver workshops and advocate for local and state policies that would prevent uptake of tobacco among youth.
