Chemical engineering provides me with the opportunity to address environmental challenges by designing products that are both sustainable and efficient.Growing up just outside of Niagara Falls, I developed an early appreciation for natural beauty. Hikes, bike rides, running, and simply enjoying nature have always been some of my favorite pastimes. The Niagara Power Plant, the largest hydroelectric plant in New York State, played a significant role in my upbringing. Without realizing it, sustainable energy became an integral part of my life. My fascination with this plant sparked an interest in energy transfer and the impact of emissions on our environment, driving my passion to minimize pollution.I am a senior majoring in chemical engineering at the University of Rochester. As a teaching assistant for the Introduction to Sustainable Energy course, I have had the opportunity to inspire first-year students and promote enthusiasm for a subject I deeply care about. Being a female role model in a predominantly male field has been a rewarding experience. Additionally, working in a research lab has allowed me to collaborate with professors and Ph.D. candidates, gaining valuable exposure to the research process.My passion for hard work began at Hibbard’s Custard, a local custard shop, where I acted as a role model and helped new hires master handling stressful situations. I have demonstrated leadership for many years, and I am organized, driven, and responsible. I excel in both group and individual settings. My experiences have provided me with a strong foundation in chemical engineering and fueled my curiosity about sustainable solutions.
